Professor Xu Yangsheng is Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He obtained his PhD degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He worked at Carnegie Mellon University (USA) for years and joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong subsequently. In August of 2013, Professor Xu was appointed the first President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen after a global selection process.

Professor Xu's research includes robotics and artificial intelligence. He has been interested in space robotics, service robotics, robot language, wearable interface, intelligent vehicles and self-learning systems. He has published 6 books, and over 300 papers in international journals in these areas. He is Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, International Member of the US National Academy of Engineering, Fellow of EU Academy of Sciences, Fellow of International Academy of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Academician of International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, and Fellow of Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences. In 14 November 2016, a main-belt asteroid was named 59425 Xu-Yangsheng in recognition of his contributions. 

Professor Zhi-Quan (Tom) Luo received his BSc degree in Applied Mathematics from Peking University, China, in 1984. In the same year, he was selected by a joint AMS-SIAM committee and the Ministry of Education of China for graduate study in the United States (S.S. Chern Program). Following a 12-month intensive training in English and Mathematics, he enrolled in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he received his PhD degree in Operations Research in 1989. From 1989 to 2003, he was on the faculty in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, McMaster University, Canada where he eventually served as the department head and was awarded a Canada Research Chair (Tier I) in Information Processing. From 2003 to 2014, Professor Luo served as a full professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Minnesota and held ADC Chair in digital technology. Currently, Professor Luo serves as the Vice President (Academic) of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and concurrently the Director of Shenzhen Research Institute of Big Data and also the Director of CUHK(SZ)-Tencent AI Lab Joint Laboratory on Machine Intelligence.

Professor Luo received the 2010 Farkas Prize from the INFORMS Optimization Society for outstanding contributions to the field of optimization. In 2018, he was awarded the prize of Paul Y. Tseng Memorial Lectureship in Continuous Optimization. He also received three Best Paper Awards from the IEEE Signal Processing Society in 2004, 2009 and 2011 respectively, and a 2011 Best Paper Award from the EURASIP. Professor Luo is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM). In 2014, he was elected to the Royal Society of Canada, the highest honor a Canadian scholar can achieve in the Arts, Humanities and Sciences. In 2021, He has been appointed as a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).

Professor Luo’s research mainly addresses mathematical issues in information sciences, with particular focus on the design, analysis and applications of optimization algorithms. Professor Luo consults regularly with industry on topics related to signal processing and digital communication. Professor Luo was the semi-plenary speaker for the International Symposium on Mathematical Programming in 2003 and IEEE CDC conference in 2011, the distinguished lecturer for the IEEE Sensor Array and Multichannel Signal Processing Workshop in 2006, the plenary speaker for the IEEE Signal Processing Advance for Wireless Communications (SPAWC) Workshop in 2013, and IEEE Signal Processing Theory and Methods Workshop in 2014. Professor Luo has served as Chair of the IEEE Signal Processing Society Technical Committee on Signal Processing for Communications (SPCOM). He was Editor in Chief for IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing from 2012 to 2014 and served as the Associate Editor for many internationally recognized journals, including Mathematics of Operations Research, Management Science, Mathematical Programming and others.

Professor Zhu received B.Eng. degree from Zhejiang University in 1982 and PhD degree from McMaster University in 1991. He joined Department of Chemical Engineering and Department of Materials Science and Engineering at McMaster University in 1994 as a faculty member. He served as Department Chair for Chemical Engineering from 2009 to 2014. He was bestowed the highest honor of “Distinguished University Professor” at McMaster University in 2015. He received the premier award "R.S. Jane Memorial Award"  from Canadian Society of Chemical Engineering in 2016. Professor Zhu joined the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen in 2017. He is currently serving as Vice President for CUHK-Shenzhen and Founding President for Shenzhen Institute for Advanced Polymer Materials.

Professor Zhu has long term devoted to teaching and research in the area of polymer chemical engineering, specializing polymer reaction engineering. He has made significant original contributions to metallocene solution polymerization of olefins, controlled radical polymerization, polymerization kinetic modelling, industrial process digitalization, high-end polymer product development, as well as smart polymer innovation. He has trained about 180 higher degree personnel, published 460 technical papers.

Professor Zhu was elected as Fellow of Chemical Institute of Canada (FCIC), Canadian Academy of Engineering (FCAE), Engineering Institute of Canada (FEIC), Royal Society of Canada (FRSC), The World Academy of Sciences (FTWAS), Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC, UK), American Institute of Chemical Engineers (FAIChE, US), as Foreign Fellow of Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China, as International Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering. He currently serves as a vice president of the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China.

Professor Tao Shu is the Vice President and Presidential Chair Professor at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen). From 2023 to 2025, he served as the Fung King Hey Memorial Chair Professor of Finance and Chairman of the Department of Finance at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School. Prior to that, he was the Associate Vice President, Presidential Chair Professor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen; Associate Director of Shenzhen Finance Institute, Director of MSc Programme in Finance, Co-Director of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Finance Research Centre, Director of Capital Markets and Asset Management Research Centre. Prof. Shu received his PhD in Finance from McCombs School of Business, the University of Texas at Austin in 2007. He previously served at the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business as Assistant Professor, tenured Associate Professor, and Macfadden Endowed Professor of Personal Financial Management, and was also a Visiting Scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.

Professor Shu’s primary research interests include corporate finance, corporate innovation, mergers and acquisitions and restructuring, behavioral finance, fintech, and sustainable finance. His work has been published in leading international finance and accounting journals such as the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Management Science, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Review of Finance, The Accounting Review, and Review of Accounting Studies.

Professor Ben Zhong Tang received his BS and PhD degrees from South China University of Technology and Kyoto University in 1982 and 1988, respectively. He conducted postdoctoral research at University of Toronto in 1989–1994. He joined the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 1994 and was promoted to Chair Professor in 2008. He was elected to the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2009, the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) in 2020, and the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) in 2026. In 2021, he joined the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, as Dean of School of Science and Engineering and X.Q. Deng Presidential Chair Professor. Since 2026, he has been serving as Vice President of CUHK-Shenzhen.

Professor Tang has published >2,700 papers, which have received >250,000 citations, with an h-index of 218 (Google Scholar, March 2026). He has delivered >500 invited talks at international conferences and has been granted >400 patents. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of Aggregate (published by Wiley) and sits on the editorial boards of >20 scientific journals.

His research spans materials science, macromolecular chemistry, and biomedical theranostics. He coined the concept of aggregation-induced emission (AIE) and is recognized as a pioneer and global leader in this field.

Professor Tang has received numerous honors and awards, including Tang Aoqing Chemistry Award (2026), Honorary Doctoral Degree of the Macau University of Science and Technology (2026), China–France Chemistry Lectureship Award of the French Chemical Society (2025), Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Outstanding Contribution Award (2025), CCS–SINOPEC Chemistry Contribution Award (2024), Biomaterials Global Impact Award (2023), Nano Today Award (2021), National Natural Science Award (1st Class, 2017), Scientific and Technological Progress Award of the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation (2027), Honorary Citizen of Guangzhou City (2015), Khwarizmi International Award (2014), Croucher Senior Research Fellowship (2007), and National Natural Science Award (2nd Class, 2007).

Professor Tony LI, Associate Vice President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, is also Director of the Research Administration Office. He obtained his PhD degree in Engineering from Tianjin University. Before joining CUHK-Shenzhen, he had been Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Shenzhen University as well as Director of Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Sensor Technology, and Director of Shenzhen Optical Sensor Network Engineering Laboratory. Since 2022, he has been consecutively listed as the World Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University.

Professor Li has long been engaged in research on fiber-optic sensors. He has been awarded by more than 30 research grants as Principal Investigator, including the Key Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has published over 200 papers in prestigious journals such as Biosensors and Bioelectronics, Nano Energy, ACS Nano, and Optics Letters, and has applied for and been granted more than 40 patents. His research in photonic crystal fiber sensors and fiber-optic biosensors has gained significant influence both domestically and internationally. He received the Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Award in 2009, the Third Prize of Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Award in 2010, and the Second Prize of Shenzhen Natural Science Award in 2019.

He has served as the editorial board member of Chinese Journal of Sensors and Actuators, Metrology & Measurement, etc., the governing board member of International Symposium on Sensor Technology and Control (ISSTC)?? of the Ministry of Education, and the Chairman of the Guangdong Sensor Technology Industry-University-Research Collaboration Alliance, and so on.

As a representative of the Municipal People's Congress, Professor Li has won titles such as "Outstanding Teacher of Shenzhen", "Outstanding Educator of Shenzhen", "Exemplary Individuals in Natural Science Foundation Management of Guangdong Province" and "Exemplary Individuals in National Natural Science Foundation Management".

Professor Cai received his PhD from Tsinghua University in 1988. After conducting postdoctoral researches at the University of Cambridge and the Queen's University of Belfast, UK, from 1989 to 1991, he was appointed as Lecturer in Applied Mathematics at the University of Western Australia during 1991-1993. He joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 1993, holding academic positions of Lecturer (1993-1996), Senior Lecturer (1996-2000), and full Professor (2000-2014), at the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management (SEEM). He served as Chairman of SEEM during 1996-2003, Head of Graduate Division of SEEM during 2009-2012, and founding Dean of General Education of Lee Woo Sing College during 2010-2014. He joined CUHK-Shenzhen in 2014 as Dean of the School of Science and Engineering (2014-17), and has been appointed as Associate Vice President since 2016, and Presidential Chair Professor since 2018. Professor Cai’s research interests are mainly in industrial and systems engineering, operations research, and logistics and supply chain management science. He has published over 300 papers in academic journals, books, and conferences, including more than 100 papers in leading journals, such as Operations Research, Management Science, SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, Naval Research Logistics, Production and Operations Management, IIE Transactions, IEEE Transactions, Transportation Science, and Transportation Research. He was the chair/co-chair for several international conferences, and a member of the organizing committee/program committee/advisory committee for numerous international conferences. He has been an editor/associate editor/editorial board member of several academic journals. Professor Cai is a recipient of the Outstanding Young Scientist award (overseas category) from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the IEOM Award of Outstanding Professor in Logistics and Supply Chain. He is Academician of the International Academy for Systems and Cybernetic Sciences, Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers, and Fellow of Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA).

Professor Wang Cong is currently Associate Vice President and presidential chair professor at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He received his Ph.D. in Finance from Vanderbilt University in 2007. He obtained his Master degree in Economics from Nanyang Technological University in 2002 and Bachelor degree from Guanghua School of Management of Peking University in 1999. Before joining CUHK-Shenzhen, Prof. Wang was a professor of finance at China Europe International Business School (CEIBS). Prior to that, he served as an associate professor (with tenure) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Prof Wang is an expert in mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and executive compensation. He has published papers in globally leading finance and accounting journals such as Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis and Management Science. His two papers published in Journal of Finance in 2007 and 2009 were ranked in the annual top ten mostly-cited articles. Another paper won the Emerald Excellence Award of citation in 2015. He had offered courses at CEIBS for MBA, EMBA, Finance MBA and executive programs and was one of the most popular professors. Prof Wang was interviewed and quoted by several well-known media outlets, including Phoenix TV, China Business Network, CCTV, China Daily, Sina Finance, Wall Street Journal and Forbes.

Professor Jianwei Huang received his Ph.D. from Northwestern University in 2005, followed by postdoctoral research at Princeton University from 2005 to 2007. He served as a faculty member at The Chinese University of Hong Kong from 2007 to 2017, and joined the School of Science and Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen in 2019. Currently, he holds the positions of Associate Vice President, Dean of the School of Science and Engineering, and Presidential Chair Professor, while concurrently serving as the Associate Director of the Shenzhen Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics for Society. Professor Huang is an IEEE Fellow, an AAIA Fellow, a National Level Talent, an IEEE Communications Society Distinguished Lecturer, a Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Researcher in Computer Science, and an Elsevier Highly Cited Scholar in China.

Professor Jianwei Huang has long been dedicated to pioneering research at the intersection of network communications, network economics, and collective intelligence. He has published 8 academic monographs and over 400 papers, with his research garnering above 20,000 citations on Google Scholar. His outstanding research contributions have been recognized with 13 international best paper awards, including the 2011 IEEE Marconi Prize Paper Award in Wireless Communications. In terms of academic leadership, he currently serves as the Chair of the IEEE Koji Kobayashi Computers and Communications Award Committee, and previously served as the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering, Associate Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society, and Chair of both the IEEE Communications Society Cognitive Networks Technical Committee and Multimedia Communications Technical Committee. In 2022, he received the IEEE Communications Society Cognitive Networks Technical Committee Publication Award.
