According to?the latest Essential Science Indicators (ESI) statistics?released by Clarivate Analytics, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen) has seen?Economics & Business?and?Psychiatry/Psychology?enter the ESI global top 1% for the first time, marking a milestone in the University’s research strength and academic standing.

In the latest ESI rankings, both disciplines achieved notable results:

  • Economics & Business:?a total of 473 ESI-indexed papers, with 9,372 total citations, an average of 19.81 citations per paper and 18 highly cited papers;
  • Psychiatry/Psychology:?a total of 359 papers indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection, with 4,757 total citations and an average of 13.25 citations per paper.

With these addition,?CUHK-Shenzhen now has 10 disciplines?in the ESI global top 1%: Materials Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science, Clinical Medicine, Biology & Biochemistry, Economics & Business, Plant & Animal Science, Psychiatry/Psychology, and Social Sciences, General. Among them,?Materials Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science, and Clinical Medicine are in the top 5‰ worldwide.

Essential Science Indicators?(ESI)?is a compilation of science performance statistics and trends data derived from Web of Science Core Collection data. This analytical tool surveys more than 12,000 journals from around the world and provides quantitative rankings of authors, institutions, countries/regions, and journals across 22 specific fields?of research based on publication output, total citations, and average citations per paper.
